Don't Become a "New Year Resolution" Statistic

Hi Everyone.

I hope you are having an amazing day today because you deserve it!

I wanted to check in with you and see how you are doing with your current lifestyle change? I was able to chat with my 6:30pm class members last night and I mentioned the idea of "New Years Resolutions". In my 12 years of coaching I have had very few "New Years Resolutions" clients actually continue with their lifestyle changes and workouts through the summer. Usually members of this group start working out really hard in January, and stop attending group sessions and classes in March. When I check in with them they are quick to admit that they "have fallen off the wagon" and are back to their old habits. Does this sound like you?

In my mind I feel like I have failed them (I tend to take things personally) and of course offer to help them get back on track ... some continue on the path to success ... some disappear.

Here is an idea to avoid what I call the Resolution Burn Out.

Let's turn our resolutions into healthy lifestyle changes, to me resolutions are temporary ... a band aid. A lifestyle change is forever!

Build a Healthy Routine

Build a routine that inspires you to be your absolute best everyday. Mine includes lots of exercise, clean eating, high energy music, reading great books, weekly meetings with my mentors and people that inspire me and writing in my journal. These things are build in to my week just like my most important meetings and classes.

Create weekly routines that inspire you ... don't wait, now is the time. Here are a few words of inspiration from one of my favorite authors, Robin Sharma.

Success doesn't just occur. Its a project that is worked on each day.

You need to swim out to it.

You need to make it happen.

So what will you do today to jump start yourself?

Don't postpone your greatness.

Your time is now. And if not now, then when?

Here is the list of books I recommend for your 2010 clean eating strategy:

The Eat Clean Diet by Tosca Reno (clean eating is throughly explained with a full nutrition plan and eating strategy)

The Power of 4 by Paula Owens (a great book that covers all aspects of healthy living for women - available on Amazon)

The Super Foods Diet (a great book on incorporating Super Foods in to your eating strategy)

YOU on a DIET by Doctor Oz (explains healthy eating, your body's response to nutrition and a healthy eating plan)
